Prayer Ministry
We are convinced that the faithful practice of
prayer
is absolutely foundational to any effective
ministry in
the
church.
Here
are
some
opportunities to be
involved in prayer.
Each
weekday morning from 6:00 to 6:30 there is an intercessory prayer meeting in the
church
sanctuary. The men
meet on Monday, Wednesday,
and Friday and the
women meet on Tuesday and Thursday. From time to time, there will be
special
called intercessory
prayer
meetings.
Sometimes they will
meet in homes, and sometimes
at the church. Watch
the bulletin for details.
In December of each year, members of the
congregation are
given
an
opportunity
to
commit themselves
to be
members
of the Intercessory
Prayer
Team for
the
coming
calendar year. The team
is formed into a prayer
chain which is on call day and night. If you
have prayer requests, call 523-2647 or
523-0883.
From time to time there will be special called
intercessory prayer meetings. Watch the bulletin
and
newsletter for details.
Retreat Ministry
Jesus often went apart
(retreated) to pray, and on occasion He took His 12 disciples apart with Him.
Over the past several years we have tried to follow the example of Jesus and
plan a variety of retreats so those in the fellowship will have an opportunity
to grow in their relationship with Jesus and in their relationship with each
other. at the present time these are the retreats planned for each year.
Youth -
One
retreat for the Junior High and Senior High youth is planned each year in the
Spring.
Women
-
Two retreats are planned each year at Camp
Buffalo Mountain, on in the fall and the other in the Spring.
Men
-
One retreat is planned in the winter each year
at Camp Buffalo Mountain.
Annual Ministry Events
Revivals and
Spiritual Growth Events
Throughout
the year we plan special services and times of ministry. The goal is to provide
a balance between evangelistic outreach and spiritual growth. This includes a
revival in January, a Campmeeting in July, and concerts at various times of the
year featuring well-known groups and singers such as The Isaacs and The Hoppers.
From time to time we will have teaching seminars and other events.
Passover Meal
In the week prior to Easter
Sunday, we celebrate a simple form of the Passover Meal that Jesus ate with His
disciples just before His death. As we proceed through the meal we discover how
Jesus is the fulfillment of all that God had envisioned for his people at the
first Passover.
Women's Spring Reception
In May there is a
special reception followed by worship for the women of the church,
other
women in their families and any acquaintances
that they might invite. This is a special time of
fellowship and reflection.
Vacation Bible School
Children
of
the
church
and
community
participate in one week of
Jesus-filled excitement in the summer.
Fall Children's Jamboree
An afternoon of fun, games, food, fellowship, entertainment, and worship takes
place on a Saturday.
Fall Jesus Party
The families come together on the Saturday afternoon just before Halloween.
There are food, games, and enjoyment for the whole family. The children and some
of the adults wear costumes, but no one is dressed in a costume that portrays
anything connected with the Satanic and the occult.
